YOU ARE INVITED!  JOIN US AT OUR 2022 IABC ANNUAL CONFERENCE

This year’s conference theme is, Counseling Life’s Most Difficult Issues. God promises in His holy, all-sufficient, inerrant, inspired, authoritative word that if we set ourselves apart from the ways of the world and walk with God, He will be our God and will change our lives. The believer is called to godly living, but the issue at hand in our conference is this: how does the believer accomplish this? Where is the sufficient resource for godly living? The natural mind thinks the power to godly living can be manufactured by self-discipline and human effort. But that is the way of the flesh. The Lord directs us to draw on a different resource. God’s provision alone brings sufficiency for godly living.

  • 3 days of live content covering topics such as complex counseling issues, biblical stewardship, addictions and Christ's sufficiency for godly living.
  • Worship with IABC Counselor Del Laird
  • Over 10 different speakers, including Mark Shaw, Howard Eyrich, Kevin Carson, Jeff Christianson, David Tyler, and more.
  • Opportunity to connect with one another and interact with conference speakers.
  • Dedicated time of prayer.

A Message From Our President Jeff Christianson

Like you, and the rest of humanity, I learned how to rely upon my own sufficiency through my earliest experiences in life. It was natural. The humanistic worldview teaches that for humankind to make a way for himself in the world he is called to do what he can do and be what he can be. He is the captain of his own destiny and what he makes of himself will be his lot in life. We are all familiar with the kingdom of man.

The kingdom of heaven resembles very little of the kingdom of men. It’s an entirely different worldview. Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world” (John 18:36).We are reminded that His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts; they are higher than the heavens are above the earth (Isaiah 55:8). In God’s kingdom, we are called upon to learn to live by the sufficiency of God rather than the sufficiency of man.

I love what Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 1:12, “For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.”

The apostle Paul conducted himself in godly sincerity; a sincerity that did not come out of fleshly wisdom. Think of his ministry. He ministered throughout the world, traveling and sharing the word of God. The wisdom of man would be insufficient for such a mighty work. According to 2 Corinthians, the whole of Paul’s ministry occurred by the grace of God. Godly living comes only by the grace of God and we who believe are called to live godly lives.

It is my prayer that God would affect our hearts and lives as we explore Counseling Life’s Most Difficult Issues, and that you will discover Christ’s sufficiency for godly living.

WHO IS IABC?

The International Association of Biblical Counselors exists to proclaim Christ, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus (Colossians 1:28). With our headquarters in Colorado and Member Services in Missouri, IABC has been serving the church since 2000.

Our desire is to allow for freedom of convictions on doctrinal matters provided that any interpretation is based on the Bible alone and that no such interpretation shall become an issue that hinders the ministry of biblical counseling to which God has called us. We desire to avoid doctrinal extremes and maintain a balanced leadership team seeking to be doctrinally sound, shying away from the present day extremes. "...that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting." Eph. 4:14

TESTIMONIALS

Biblical hope is the certainty that God has, does, and will fulfill His promises to His people. Living in the certainty of His promises to us can not only change our lives but it can inspire change in the lives of those around us. Join us as we... "encourage one another to love and good deeds" Hebrews 10:24-25. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1.

-Bill Hines

One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 10:24, 25, "...and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near." I probably have not missed more than two annual IABC conferences since we began meeting together some 25 years ago. Each time, without exception, I have come away very encouraged. As such I am so looking forward to meeting with you again in July. I hope to see you in Illinois.

-Alden Laird

How wonderful it is to come to the IABC conference and meet other men and women who love God‘s Word—whose lives have been changed and who are helping others in practical ways to glorify the Lord! Being around other people who understand what biblical counseling is all about is energizing, and it is a joy to receive insights from them that can be taken straight into our own lives as well as those of our counselees. Finding out about new materials—books, booklets, articles, videos, etc.—is like being in a candy store!
