An Accelerated Pathway to IABC Certification
The International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC) and The Addiction Connection (TAC) are partnering to provide TAC students and Commissioned Addictions Biblical Counselors (CABCs) with an accelerated pathway toward IABC certification.
Through this ministry partnership, qualifying TAC training and commissioning requirements can be recognized toward the educational and ministry requirements for IABC certification—helping qualified counselors build upon the training they have already completed rather than starting over.
Continuing Ministry Education Units
TAC students and Commissioned Addictions Biblical Counselors (CABCs) may receive Continuing Ministry Education Units toward applicable IABC certification requirements.
The goal is simple: recognize quality biblical counseling training already completed through TAC and provide a clear pathway for completing the remaining IABC requirements.
Candidates will complete the required coursework, examinations, supervised counseling requirements, applications, and other applicable IABC certification standards.
But you will not have to figure out the process on your own.
A Clear Success Path
TIABC and TAC are developing a step-by-step success path designed to make the transition clear and achievable.
☑️Your previous TAC training is reviewed.
☑️Your applicable training is recognized.
☑️Your remaining IABC requirements are identified.
☑️You receive a clear pathway for completing those requirements.
☑️And you continue moving toward IABC certification.
No unnecessary duplication. No wondering what comes next. A clear pathway forward.
Building on the Training You Already Have
Becoming a CABC requires meaningful biblical training and preparation for ministering to people struggling with addiction. This new pathway is designed to honor that work while helping TAC counselors broaden their biblical counseling training and become part of the larger IABC community.
TAC’s specialized emphasis on biblical addiction counseling and IABC’s broader biblical counseling certification can work together to strengthen counselors for ministry in the local church and beyond.
A New Season of Ministry Partnership
We are grateful to announce this new season of partnership between IABC and The Addiction Connection.
Our shared desire is to equip more faithful biblical counselors to bring the hope and sufficiency of God’s Word to hurting people.
If you are currently pursuing TAC commissioning—or you are already a Commissioned Addictions Biblical Counselor—we welcome you to explore this accelerated pathway toward IABC certification.
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
