2020 IABC Annual Conference

Passing the Baton:

Committing the Message to the Next Generation of Leaders

Greetings in the matchless name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Welcome to the information page of the 2020 Annual IABC Conference. This year, we will explore how Paul’s second letter to Timothy strengthens our trust in the sufficiency of God’s Word. Each IABC board member will guide us through 2 Timothy as we reflect upon this year’s theme– Committing the Message to the Next Generation of Leaders.

Paul writes his final letter to Timothy, his son in the faith. Paul discipled Timothy and invested time and wisdom into Timothy’s life so that Timothy could continue Paul’s work after Paul finished his race. Paul told Timothy, “…the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2).

Paul reminded Timothy of the body of truth, God’s Word. Timothy had heard the Word of God from the Apostle Paul in the presence of many others. God gave Timothy a ministry, not for Timothy alone, but so that Timothy would pass the good news of Jesus to others. God gave Timothy the task of pouring into others what God had committed to him.

Jesus and the Apostles taught that Scripture is sufficient to answer our questions and to guide our life. In 2 Peter 1:3, Peter writes, “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue”. Scripture contains answers to the basic problems facing humanity. Men and women can search the Scriptures for answers to questions such as, “Who am I? Why am I here? Where is my life going?” Jesus acknowledged that the religious leaders searched the Scriptures to find answers to these questions. Jesus said: “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life” (John 5:39-40).

The leadership of the International Association of Biblical Counselors have the same desire. We want to “Pass The Baton” of Scripture to the next generation and search the unfathomable depths of the Bible with you. We want to partner with you–like minded believers–who declare the sufficiency of Christ and His Word. It is our prayer that this conference and this theme for 2020 will enlarge your vision of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and of the Sufficiency of His Word!

Much Love to All – –

Serving with You, for God’s Glory, by His Grace,

Women Counseling Women

" The teachings in the sessions were right on, practical, from experience, with passion, worshipful, and of course - biblical! The discussions afterwards were as teaching as the sessions. It also gave the opportunity to connect and get to know other counselors from all over the US, and hear what they are dealing with. Questions could be asked and were answered - straight from others’ experiences. - And what I learned is how to deal with a big issue in a godly way. I am glad I came. I got spiritual food, made some new connections, refreshed old ones and enjoyed every minute. Thank you! "
