| IABC - About Us |
 |
|
IABC is the International Association Of Biblical Counselors, a group of people committed to the authority of the Bible as the all-sufficient resource for transforming human lives both in this life and throughout eternity. We are a training, resource, and certifying organization for pastors, counselors, and laity who are equally committed to the Scriptures.
We believe 2 Peter 1:3, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." We believe in the gentle application of Biblical principles to aid the healing of God's people.
Biblical Counseling is one of the most powerful and fastest growing movements today. Its impact is being felt throughout the Church and in the lives of many individuals. As God's alternative to psychology, Biblical Counseling is an effective force in changing the lives of those who seek Him.
IABC is a response to organizations and individuals who saw the need for basic standards, beliefs and practices in counseling. IABC holds to the inerrancy of Scripture in faith and the sufficiency of God's Word in practice.
IABC promotes Biblical Counseling through seminars, conferences and workshops, encourages the development of Biblical research, and offers a counselor network for the exchange of information and client referral.
IABC offers a rigorous, yet achievable program of certification for those members who meet the qualifications. Certification allows for counselors to meet a high standard of counseling excellence and Biblical integrity, promotes a uniform approach to counseling and provides cohesion in the Biblical Counseling movement. IABC membership is a prerequisite for certification.
Biblical Counseling has often been stereotyped as being harsh, legalistic and unloving. Sometimes those labels have been earned. That's why at IABC, we are trying to present genuine Biblical counseling with a gentle tone of voice, without compromising doctrine in the least. If a gentle loving spirit coupled with absolute commitment to Biblical sufficiency reflects your attitude, philosophy and practice, why not become a part of this exciting and growing organization? |
